    About :

Migration is a complex phenomenon influenced by economic, social, and environmental factors, shaping both origin and destination societies. The MIGRATURITY project focuses on Sub-Saharan Africa, recognising the role of higher education institutions (HEIs) in addressing migration challenges such as brain drain, illegal migration, and social inclusion. By fostering collaboration between European and African HEIs, the project aims to build capacity, develop sustainable solutions, and promote security, social cohesion, and informed policymaking.

Namely, migration remains a crucial topic in EU-Africa relations, with a significant focus on African migration to Europe, often overlooking intra-African migration and its broader impact. The European Agenda for Migrations (EAM) employs both securitised and non-securitised approaches, with the latter addressing root causes and promoting integration, as exemplified by the MIGRATURITY initiative.

This project, involving European and African partners, prioritises Ethiopia and Nigeria due to their migration priority status, migration dynamics, and potential for increasing HEI capacities. MIGRATURITY aligns with long-term EU and SSA strategies to tackle irregular migration by fostering sustainable development and strengthening migration and security capacities of HEIs, but also of other target groups such as HE staff and students, relevant civil servants, police departments, etc.

About : Biodiversity is essential for life, providing the resources that sustain human survival. Yet, it is rapidly declining due to habitat destruction, primarily driven by food production. The REbATE project seeks to address this crisis by integrating Circular Economy (CE) and Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) principles, which focus on conserving and restoring ecosystems to promote environmental sustainability and resilience.

By fostering capacity building within higher education institutions across Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles, REbATE aims to equip future leaders, professionals, and researchers with the skills and knowledge necessary to implement CE and EbA strategies. The project focuses on key areas such as social entrepreneurship, sustainable practices in the agri-food sector, and women’s leadership in CE, ensuring that these efforts are inclusive, equitable, and transformative. Ultimately, REbATE’s approach seeks to foster long-term sustainability, resilience, and gender equity in the Indian Ocean islands, contributing to the global movement for sustainable development and aligning with the EU Green Deal’s vision of harmonising economic prosperity with environmental stewardship.

    About :

SINCERE project aims at improving the academic integrity and ethical culture in HEIs in Albania and Kosovo, targeting an impact at the individual, institutional and systemic level. The project addresses important challenges: lack of structured policies/procedures on academic integrity, limited/no access to digital tools to monitor and report cases of ethical violation and the “brain drain” phenomenon due to lack of equal opportunities in Higher Education.

The project seeks to implement an institutional framework on academic integrity. It includes clear policies handling ethical violations, anti-plagiarism software to detect similarity and AI generated content and a dashboard to monitor faculty performance implemented in all 5 partner beneficiary HEIs. To achieve sustainable implementation, a Task Force on Academic Integrity will be established in each WB institution, which will assist applying and monitoring new policies/procedures. Capacity building will be supported by administrative and academic staff trainings focused on managing ethical misconduct and access to digital tools.

One of the outputs of the project is the Regional Academic Integrity Network which will support cooperation among partner institutions in exchanging best practices, developing common shared policies/procedures on academic integrity after the EU settled standards. This network will continue performing its duties beyond the project’s life-cycle aiming at setting long-term cooperation impacting national policies in HE. The expected results of the project range from an increased level of awareness on academic integrity among students and staff, a decrease in the number of ethical violations, to enhanced transparency level of academic assessment and strengthening of admin capacities of partner institutions. The project contributes directly to the action’s objectives of enhancing quality of HE, capacity

    About :

STREAMING is a four-year multidisciplinary and transnational project, which  aims to develop strategies for fair, healthy, and environmentally sustainable food systems across the continent. By fostering connections between basic research and practical implementation. STREAMING seeks to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among various target groups, including women, researchers, students, and farmers.

STREAMING aims to apply the results of basic research to solve problems within the completely African food trade system by strengthening the network among all food system actors. This includes industry, trade systems, farming and entrepreneurs. With this core approach, STREAMING aims to achieve an overall improvement of the African food trade system towards more resilience against external factors such as climate change or conflicts, which addresses SDG2 (zero hunger), SDG3 (good health and wellbeing), SDG12 (responsible consumption and production) and SDG 13 (climate action).. Present circumstances such as the Russian-Ukraine war has shown the fragility of existing food systems.

Moreover, one third of total greenhouse gas emissions is caused by our current diet, which is an alarming number and needs to be addressed. Additionally, malnutrition is one key problem in African countries, often originating in the usage of plants with low nutritional value, especially in proteins.

Hence, introducing plants with a high protein content can be one partial solution to overcome malnutrition. However, plant proteins are still less favorable because of their lower bioavailability as well as their incomplete amino acid profile compared to animal proteins. Moreover, since animal proteins make up to 16.5% of the green house gas emissions, alternative plant proteins can not only address malnutrition but also contribute to decrease GHG emissions in human diet.

    About :

Despite its economic advancements and critical steps towards stabilization through the EU integration process, the Western Balkans (WB) region remains prone to instabilities and security threats. Some of these threats stem from the remnants of the 90s wars, while others are newly emerging. Insecurity is driven by both internal factors (e.g., complex regional relations, historical justice/injustice views leading to radical and violent behaviors) and external factors (e.g., regional fragility, socio-economic difficulties, and the WB’s position amidst global instabilities).

A recent survey, #SecuriMeter 2021, conducted in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Kosovo with over 6,000 participants, revealed that 64% of citizens are satisfied with the security situation in the region. However, organized crime, terrorism, the migrant crisis, pandemics, pollution, and fake news are major security challenges. The most pressing concerns for citizens are health security, food security, and socio-political stability, both in virtual and physical spaces.

Recognizing that politics operates on multiple levels and that education is fundamental for regional development and transformation, the TRUST project aims to foster regional cooperation. It creates opportunities for experienced and new higher education institutions (HEIs), faculties, and individuals with fewer opportunities to engage and contribute to building regional resilience against emerging threats and to strengthening relations with the EU.

    About the project

The project addresses critical challenges faced by youth in the region of Vojvodina, including low participation rates, the lack of age-appropriate non-formal education programmes, fostering trust in local institutions, and enhancing the capacities of key stakeholders in the participation process. It seeks to amplify the voices of marginalised youth and adults. Furthermore, the project aims to cultivate a positive outlook among young people regarding Serbia’s place within the European community, reinforcing the idea that their future lies within the EU. By strengthening the capacities of youth spaces, the project ensures these environments serve as safe platforms for participation and learning about European values and the accession process. Through the development of innovative participation programmes, it broadens young people’s knowledge of the EU accession process and provides a forum for testing youth perspectives on EU-related social issues, while fostering greater interaction among them.

    About the project

In recent years, the digitalisation process in the Western Balkans has accelerated, particularly within the education sector, which saw a surge in online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, numerous studies reveal that significant digital divides continue to impede educational access for many students and their families. This issue is particularly pronounced among students with physical and/or mental disabilities, many of whom are underrepresented in higher education despite their talents. Similarly, female students are less likely to enroll in technical programmes compared to their male counterparts, despite the potential of digital transformation to empower women economically and promote gender equality. To address these disparities, higher education institutions must adapt their digital competencies, content, methods, and services to ensure equitable access and the successful completion of study programmes for all student cohorts. Taking action now to address these issues will yield significant benefits, including greater inclusion of women in the digital economy and increased diversity among learners, both of which bring social and economic advantages.

The HAWKING project seeks to bridge the digital divide by focusing on e-accessibility, optimising existing digital infrastructure, and creating new support structures at the university level. It aims to modernise teaching methods and tools to cater to the diverse needs of students in the digital environment. The project establishes mechanisms that facilitate a fair digital transition from secondary to higher education, improving both institutional and infrastructural environments at partner higher education institutions (HEIs). In doing so, it enhances teaching methodologies and ensures more comprehensive support for students. The initiative actively involves educational managers, faculty, non-teaching staff, students, and parents, fostering a holistic impact on the digitalization of education.

    About the project

In Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), agriculture is a vital sector, contributing up to 40% of GDP and sustaining over 70% of the population, primarily through family farming, which employs around 40% of the active workforce. Despite this, the region’s agricultural potential remains largely untapped due to significant rural-to-urban migration within countries and extensive population movements to neighboring countries and Europe.

The MASSTER project aims to address this by offering innovative educational and training tools to support agricultural students and farmers in SSA, facilitated by the increased involvement of higher education institutions (HEIs) in community development. It adopts a whole-of-society approach, integrating agricultural development with migration dynamics. The project seeks to establish an effective framework for managing migration in line with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly zero hunger, quality education, decent work, economic growth, and responsible consumption, ultimately improving food security.

    About :

The project attempts to increase the role and impact of women in the security sector, whereby the security sector is defined as any entity in charge of preserving order and safety within a community or a state. Gender equality is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of democratic societies.

Addressing the underrepresentation of women in security systems is essential for achieving gender equality and promoting diversity and inclusivity in these critical sectors. Women bring unique perspectives, experiences, and skills to the security domain, which can enhance the effectiveness and legitimacy of security policies, practices, and institutions.

The GenSec consortium wishes to bridge this gap through education by creating a new and innovative joint/double master´s programme Gender and Security following the joint project partners efforts to markedly and significantly support gender mainstreaming in the security domain and increase the number of female experts who can obtain high-ranking positions in the field.

All partner institutions will work as co-constructors of a new and innovative joint master’s  programme equipping both students and staff with the opportunity to participate in further building the process of internationalisation of their respective institutions, forming professional and educational networks ina quality and competitive manner, while making significant steps towards refining their societies through improved access for female members in the security sector so important for the success and progress of a society.

The consortium’s  approach and efforts will be based on a comprehensive whole-society perspective which recognises that education is not only about academic content but also about preparing students to engage with and contribute to diverse social, economic, and cultural contexts. The consortium includes three HEIs from Serbia, North Macedonia and Georgia, as well as an NGO and a government entity from Serbia.

The project seeks to enhance the adaptability, workplace retention, and career reorientation of adults by addressing skills mismatches through innovative, media-rich learning resources and tools. By equipping adult education coaches with modern curricula and methodologies, the initiative will enable them to effectively foster the soft skills and digital readiness of learners. At its core, the project empowers individuals to recognise their strengths and gaps, develop future-oriented skills, and adapt to evolving labour market demands with confidence and resilience.

Key outcomes include raising awareness of soft skills as vital drivers of employability, strengthening career development pathways, and boosting resilience in the face of digital transformation. To achieve this, the project will deliver a suite of outputs: a digital curriculum toolkit, an assessment tool for self-awareness, a media-rich toolkit for bridging skills mismatches, and scenario-based workshops tailored to real labour market challenges.

Through this comprehensive approach, the project not only equips adult learners with the transversal and digital skills needed to thrive in modern workplaces, but also supports coaches in creating inclusive, adaptable, and future-proof learning opportunities. Ultimately, it aims to ensure that adults across diverse contexts are empowered to sustain their professional growth and actively  contribute to the dynamic transformation of society.

Green GUARDens is an Erasmus+ project which targets kindergarten teachers and their students (3.5 to 6 years old), including those who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing (DHH). Using the framework of the UN’s goals for sustainable development (SDGs), the Green GUARDens project ensures that kindergartens become more sustainable and that teachers serve as role models, demonstrating greener behaviours to their students through formal education that utilises experiential and gamified learning to enhance this experience.

The Green GUARDens project will develop:

    1) A Virtual Learning Lab for teachers’ training, containing theoretical modules interactive multimedia resources, and micro-challenges on environmental sustainability, green entrepreneurship, and inclusion and accessibility for Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing in education. The Virtual Learning Lab will help teachers develop sustainability and entrepreneurship competencies, as well as understand ways to make their kindergartens greener.

    2) Pedagogical Sequences with gamified activities and little experiments based on ocean pollution, air pollution, and deforestation for teachers to adapt in their classrooms.

    3) The ‘Green GUARDens of the Future’ Audiovisual Implementation Report with practical reporting, best practices, and audiovisual recordings with recommendations and awareness raising on adopting the project’s methodology in kindergarten classrooms.

    About the project:

Over the course of the past decades as noted in vast research literature, the role of HE has undergone through changes that increasingly led to its becoming much more viewed as industry or even commodity, with accentuated purpose to create human capital in possession of the right mix of skills aligned to specific labour market needs. The HEIs market rules led behavior in this sense significantly resembles the comportment of companies – strategizing and competing for its share on the market place and financial liability. At the same time, social role of the HE (introducing/delivering/promoting core democratic values of equity, equality, socio-economic integration, access to rights and services, etc. which make HEIs more inclusive and connected to respective societies) is noticeably undervalued. Due to specific social setting and historical development of south and east Europe in these regions as suggested in the ET 2020 targets larger rates of HE ESL are noticeably compared to the rest of Europe. Enhancing social dimension of HE is an important pillar of the Bologna Process, as reconfirmed in 2018 Paris Communiqué. Furthermore, the STATUS project takes up on the Council of Europe recommendations in the field, stipulating that higher education institutions, while exercising their autonomy, should be enabled to meet society’s multiple expectations and fulfil their various and equally important objectives to knowledge provision, which inter-alia include: preparation for life as active citizens in democratic societies and personal development for all. Even though inclusion in HE is a top priority in European countries, there are no national strategies and comprehensive approaches with long-term commitments on social inclusion in HE the issue becomes ever more prominent for their educational systems since underrepresented students in HE are more likely to lack basic skills (literacy, numeracy and digital competence), experience of independent learning, and a clear idea of what HE entails.

    About the project:

Project is response to the challenges and needs identified in European Societies and specifically in the context of School education. The implementing partners, have grasped the urgency to put forward concrete actions and responses to support and empower teachers and educators to utilize digital tools and resources to elevate their capacity to engage their students and most importantly to address social issues and factors contributing to social inclusion in an interactive manner. eDialogue aims to educate and empower educators, offering them opportunities to enhance their professional skills, image, and role by learning new and innovative methodologies that will elevate their capacity in open dialogue moderation. In doing so, they will be enabled to become active and skilled leaders in the use of digital tools and open dialogue for social inclusion among students. Specifically, the tools and methodologies that will be developed will support educators in using open dialogue to address challenges and aspects of social exclusion such as discrimination, segregation and racism, bullying and cyber bullying, radicalisation, fake news, and other forms of online misinformation. Through this innovative and integrated approach e-Dialogue addresses diversity and promotes non-discrimination and social inclusion. E-Dialogue will enhance the professional development of secondary school educators and will strengthen their leadership in education using open dialogue for social inclusion among students.

    About the project:

The digitalisation of society and the labour-market has been on a constant rise over the last decades. Although this digitalisation has some advantages, it also results in important challenges for all actors involved, including a rise in the phenomenon of technostress. ‘Technostress’ is defined as the inability to adapt or cope with ICT in a healthy manner and research has shown that it has a direct impact on individuals’ wellbeing, as it leads to increased anxiety and depressive symptoms. The need to adequately equip the workforce of tomorrow with digital skills is thus urgent, even more so because of the COVID-19 crisis. The HE sector is severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and is witnessing a rise in the phenomenon of technostress. Students in particular face several challenges such as conflicting home demands, family commitments and inappropriate workspaces, which have a direct impact on the level of technostress experienced by students. The project addresses such need to support students in developing key digital competences, such as techno-resilience.

    About the project:

Tertiary education has a vital role to play in supporting tolerant, civically engaged societies. Studenthood should be a time of academic, personal/skills growth, development and positive change, but, sadly, Student Union Reports across Europe, show that students face increasing hate-based abuse, hate speech, risks from radicalisation and extremism on campuses. Some students are more likely to be targets of hate and extremism than others, such as those from BAME groups (including refugees and migrants), women, LGBT communities, people of various religions and disabled people. Examples of hate on campus, can include hate speech, cyber abuse, physical abuse and violence, gendered abuse, bullying and active exclusion. Extremism can be seen in patterns of formal, organised extremist organisation activity on campuses, radicalisation and violence, especially around right wing hate hate, Islamaphobia and antisemitism. These are challenging issues for higher education and societies. CHECKIT HE responds and innovates by addressing the issues of hate practices/behaviour and extremism within HEI communities and providing tools for HEI staff to identify, challenge and counter these when exhibited on campus.

CHECK IT HE aims to enhance HE response to hate and extremism on HEI campuses, by building capacity, knowledge and skills, bringing together innovative projects and practices in the field.

The project outputs are built to help HE and other stakeholders to challenge hate and extremism and these include: a report, six up-to-the- minute training toolkits on addressing diverse forms of hate and extremism and an app that can be used to identify and then select strategies and activities to counter these.

    About the project:

Modern agriculture is largely based on new technological solutions closely related to the increasing use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and various software solutions, not only for monitoring, but also for managing production processes. In Bosnia and Montenegro agriculture remains largely dependent on manual farming, with technical and technological solutions being poorly explored. At the same time, both countries have strong ICT sectors employing sizeable number of highly educated professionals who develop front-end software solutions. Building a sustainable regional future for the large extent hence depends on the intersection of the two which, even though a concern that should be addressed in all parts of society as a critical strategic area for development and economic activity, has in so far not been given a fair attention in educational and training practices.

With this in mind VIRAL project aims to trigger higher level of knowledge, skills and application with reference to use of ICT in agricultural education and training in both formal and informal settings. Henceforth, VIRAL connects key HEIs and industry learning communities’ participants in the process of co-creating and testing new in and out of the classroom methods and practices, initiating professional pitch competitions (hackathons), and spinning off a distinctive regional university-business collaboration platform.

Core learning experience involving agricultural and IT engineering teaching staff and students and passing on the knowledge gained onto professional advisory services and collaboration practices with the companies in the field is realized through intensive training experience and study visits to European universities. On the impact level boosted ICTs use in agriculture underpins sustainable rural development, increases resilience of rural families, improves access of farmers to needed services, and further empowers living prospects of inhabitants in rural areas.

    About the project:

The teaching professions face rapidly changing demands, which require a new, broader and more sophisticated set of competences than before. The ubiquity of digital devices and applications, in particular, requires educators to develop their digital competence and pedagogical skills. The European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) is a scientifically sound framework describing what it means for educators to be digitally competent and adequately informed about the use and application of digital technologies. It provides a general reference frame to support the further development of EU educators’ specific digital competences and utilities. In this context the DigitA will equip adult education trainers with the skills and the competencies to mainstream the DigCompEdu in their training activities.

The main aim of the project is to facilitate the development of digital competences of adult education trainers and other personnel who support adult learners in diverse sectors and activities, based on the EC’s Digital Competencies Framework. We intend to achieve this aim through Promoting innovative pedagogic and new methods for teaching, learning and assessment that will support educators and learners to use digital technologies in creative, collaborative and efficient ways.

The target of the action are adult education trainers and other personnel who support adult learners.

The three Main outputs of the Project are:

    1. Mapping of the digital competencies of adult education trainers in Europe as they stand today. Creation of online pedagogies, lesson plans, activities, tools and train for trainers modules for Adult Educators to align their skills and training provision with the DigiComp Framework.
    2. Interactive Online Learning Environment: The learning platform and the mobile application created will support the delivery of all the online learning components and interactive tools (online training modules, multimedia content, communication and collaboration tools, mini games, resource bank and the overall project material).
    3. Training and Policy Adaptation Guide: A guide in the form of an Interactive eBook including multimedia content and providing specific guidelines to the project’s stakeholders, multipliers and relevant policy makers.

EMBRACE HE is a project specially designed to help address problems of mental health and lack of well being in students in higher education. The mental health and well being of youth in Europe is a high concern and this group includes students, who similar to other young people, often suffer anxiety, depression, attempted suicide and serious mental health problems. If not addressed, many of these problems can continue onto later life, in employment, family life and society and can also negatively affect day to day activities of study, progression and achievement in study, participation in social life and activities, networking and developing interpersonal skills.

    EMBRACE HE will:

    • design and create a programme of activities that will bring together best practices in an easily implemented format to support HEI’s in supporting student mental well being.
    • provide training, tools and resources for academics and academic-related staff in HE, who support students,
    • create policy resources for HE wide implementation and action planning, structured activities at the institutional, systems and class room levels, to support good student well being.

    About the project:

Effective provision of preschool education sets the foundation for children’s lifelong learning, social integration, personal development and employability. It directly correlates with quality preschool teachers’ education and training and their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) practices.

Within the KEY project ECEC practitioners, educators and regulators in Serbia and Montenegro join efforts with EU partners to design modern pathways to efficient CPD system for preschool teachers based on the introduction of professional learning communities (PLC) approach, going beyond the training courses required for teachers certification encouraging them to review the learning needs, acquire new knowledge/competences through formal, informal and non-formal learning throughout their careers while enabling HEIs to provide students with competences they need to adapt to globalized settings, where creativity, innovation, initiative, and commitment to continuous learning are as important as knowledge.

Establishing 6 ECEC learning hubs at participating HEIs as operational facilities supporting teachers and practitioners training specialized in 5 different areas:

    1. inclusive education – work with socially deprived children and their families, Roma and migrant children;
    2. education for sustainable development across the curriculum;
    3. ICT in preschool education;
    4. work with gifted children and their families
    5. teaching English to preschool children is the project main output.

Other products include CPD courses and materials, Guidelines on M&E and QA in CPD, CPD model of standards, and introduction of Moodle platform in CPD. In sustained efforts to address equality and inclusion, project outputs will be prepared in Serbian, English, Romani and Hungarian.

KEY project will impact ECEC learning communities in Serbia and Montenegro, bringing about greater value of teachers profession and students and young professionals learning competences and skills mandatory for their careers in 21 century.

    About the project:

AGRIVOC project is to reform the vocational studies in agriculture and food technology in 8 institutions of higher education in the Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. All project activities are divided into 8 work packages in line with the rules of TEMPUS program.

Why this project? Our higher education vocational schools lack practice and apprenticeship programs. Students of higher education vocational schools are not well enough prepared for entering the labor market nor are they equipped with applicable knowledge and understanding on the way business processes are being carried out. AGRIVOC project will enable the students coming from the higher vocational studies to gain more practical wok experience during the course of studies and prepare well for the labor market through practice organized in the farms and laboratories rather than merely through exercises performed in the classroom.

Project consists of three key components:

    a) Curriculum reform (shifts in the number of study courses, alternations in status of mandatory and electives courses, etc.)

    b) Improving teaching methodology and entrepreneurial learning (introducing interactive methods in delivering tutorials, education conducive to entrepreneurship, developing entrepreneurial competences and way of thinking)

    c) Introduction of practice and establishment of training centers
